Groups and locked time slots

Not every lesson is one-on-one. Schedule My Lessons handles group classes and fixed recurring sessions alongside your individual lessons, all in the same conflict-free timetable. This guide explains groups, smart group suggestions, and locked time slots — and how they differ.

Groups

A group is several students taught together in one slot — an ensemble, a class, a pair. The scheduler finds a time that works for everyone in the group by intersecting all their availability, then places it just like an individual lesson.

To create one, open the schedule wizard's Select students step and tap + Group, then pick the members and a lesson length. Group lessons appear in the timetable in their own colour with the members listed.

Smart group suggestions (Pro)

Not sure who to group? Tap Suggest groups and the app finds students who share the same activity and have overlapping availability — ready-made groups you can accept with a tap. Each suggestion is named for its activity (for example "Piano Group 2"). This is a Pro feature.

Locked time slots (Pro)

A locked time slot is a session pinned to an exact day and time that never moves — a weekly ensemble, a room booking, a standing class. Unlike a regular group (which the scheduler places wherever it fits), a locked slot is placed first, at the time you chose, and everything else schedules around it.

Create one with + Locked in the Select students step: pick the members, the day, and the start time. Locked slots show a small lock badge and a thicker border in the timetable. This is a Pro feature.

Groups vs. locked time slots — which do I use?

• Use a group when you want the app to find a shared time automatically.
• Use a locked time slot when the time is already decided and must not change.

A student can be in a locked slot and still get individual lessons or regular groups in the same schedule.

Good to know

• A group is scheduled automatically at a time that suits all its members; a locked time slot is fixed to a day and time you set, and the rest of the schedule works around it.
• A student can appear in individual lessons, regular groups, and locked slots within the same schedule.
• Regular groups are on the free plan; smart group suggestions and locked time slots are Pro features.
• Group members still get individual lessons by default, unless you deselect them — the app reminds you and can deselect grouped students for you.
